Stitching images using the conventional method

[Final Year Project] FPGA based Image Mosaicing using AI (log #4)

Stitching images using the general approach involves the following steps –

  1. Feature point or Keypoint Extraction
  2. Keypoint Matching
  3. Calculating Perspective Transform Matrix or Homography
  4. Warping the Second Image into a Global Co-ordinate Frame with respect to the First or The Reference Image
  5. Combining the Reference and the Warped Image

These five major steps for Image Stitching are preceded by some pre-processing operations on the input images and followed by post-processing operations on the stitched image.
